Delete your Chato account
Chato (HelloChato) is the team chat app by Gabe Delgado (legal name: DELGADO FUENTES GABRIEL). You can delete your account and its data at any time.
In the app (fastest)
- Open Chato on your phone, or app.hellochato.com in a browser.
- Open You: the tab at the bottom on a phone, or your name in the sidebar on a computer.
- Tap Delete account, then Delete account again to confirm.
- It asks you to confirm it's you (always with Apple): sign in again with the same Apple or Google account. You're done when you're back on the sign-in screen.
No app, or can't sign in?
Email hello@hellochato.com from the address of the Apple or Google account you sign in with, subject "Delete my account". We reply to that address with a short code: send it back in the same thread, so we know it's you. Once it's confirmed, we delete the account the same way the app does, within 30 days, and tell you when it's done.
If an account was blocked for abuse, we answer within 30 days but may keep it, so it stays blocked.
Used Apple's "Hide My Email"? Say so in your email, with the private address Apple made for Chato (on an iPhone: Settings → your name → Sign-In & Security → Sign in with Apple → Chato). We'll write to it, and Apple passes it on to you.
What is deleted
- Your sign-in account: email address and account ID.
- Your place in every team: your role, your name, your profile photo link and your notification settings.
- Your devices: their keys, push tokens and read state.
- Invites you made that nobody used: they stop working.
- Your choice about emails from chato.
- Your encrypted profile photos (those set from November 2026 on).
- If you sign in with Apple: chato's Sign in with Apple link to your Apple ID.
- Any team where you're the last member: the whole team, with all its messages and files.
What stays
- Messages, files and reactions you sent to a team that still has members. They stay in that team's history, still encrypted, so the conversation keeps making sense for the others.
- In that team, also: profile photos set before November 2026, custom emoji you added (no longer linked to you), and a record that your devices were added and removed.
- Backups made to recover from an incident keep a copy for up to 4 weeks (sign-in accounts: up to 3 months), then they're deleted.
Teams you own pass to an admin, or else to the longest-standing member. The privacy policy has the details.
